Apple recently released the iOS 13.4 for its latest iPhone models. and iPadOS 13.4 for many iPad models. But the list of eligible devices also includes models as old as the iPhone 6S. While that comes as good news for users of old iPhone models, people using a model any lower than that do not need to fret, too. Apple has rolled out iOS 12.4.6 for iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5S, iPod touch (sixth-generation), iPad Air (first-generation), iPad mini 2, and iPad mini 3. These devices are quite old and not eligible for iOS 13 or iPadOS 13, which is why Apple has added some bug fixes and security patches only.
The iOS 12.4.6 is now available to download on all the aforementioned iPhone, iPod, and iPad models. The update can be checked by visiting the Settings, followed by General, and then, Software Update. The iOS 12.4.6 is very lightweight in terms of size, owing to the lack of new features. After the update is downloaded and installed, the iPhone needs to be restarted for the changes to come in effect. It is advised that the iPhone unit is charged before beginning with the update process. It should also be remembered that the iPhone unit is connected to Wi-Fi to avoid charges on the cellular plan.
The new update brings a few fixes along with the security patches. The battery life has been improved on Wi-Fi and cellular connections. The Wi-Fi connectivity has become reliable with the update. Apart from these minor fixes, there is nothing new in the iOS 12.4.6 in terms of features. Apple had abandoned the old iPhone and iPad models from the list of new software updates and while these models are receiving sporadic update, they are only limited to adding the security patches.
Apple recently rolled out the iOS 13.4 for iPhone and iPadOS 13.4 for iPad, bringing features such as nine new Memoji stickers, iCloud folder sharing, and trackpad support for iPad Pro models. The ninth-generation iPad Pro, which was launched recently, comes with a Magic Keyboard that houses a trackpad. The iPadOS 13.4 enables the two versions of the iPad Pro with the necessary support for the trackpad. The iPhone 6s and later have also got some bug fixes and minor improvements, in addition to the latest security patch.
