Q: I am a student planning to buy a laptop. My budget is between Rs 23,000 and Rs 28,000. Please suggest a good laptop for my college work, gaming and for watching movies. Also, tell me how is the HP g6-2302ax and HP g6-1318ax. - Shoaib Khan, on email
G&G: The HP G6 is a good device. Another option is the Sony Vaio SVE11115ENW at `25,990 and the Lenovo IdeaPad S300 for `30,000. However, remember that at this price range your computer will have a older chip and will be a bit underpowered for high-end gaming. Many of these devices will have either an AMD processor instead of Intel.
Q: I am looking to buy a really good HD LED TV. I need at least 32 inches, HDMI port, USB, Good Sound (Dolby Digital / SRS). My budget is Rs 25,000. Also, is the Micromax 32 ILED32K316 a good TV? Is it reliable enough? It has so many features at such a low price, looks tempting or is it just another "you'll be sorry" kind of TV. - Nolan D'souza, on email
G&G: We suggest you buy a FullHD instead of HD as 720p is an older technology and standard. Toshiba's PS range is the best value for money in this range. You can buy a Toshiba 32PT200 FullHD LED for Rs 29,000. In HD (720p) a Samsung or LG will cost you around Rs 30,000. Panasonic THL32XM5 is available for Rs 25,500. The new Micromax televisions seem to be decent enough. We have reviewed their 40-inch TV in the last issue. It is good value considering it is cheaper than rivals. It has a good picture and media player, though lacking smart features. And we presume the after-sales service will be good, given that Micromax is now a known and trusted brand in the country.
