Global factors behind rupee fall, no need for knee-jerk reaction: Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley yesterday attributed the fall in rupee to global factors and said there was no need for panic or knee-jerk reactions. He said the Reserve Bank is doing whatever is necessary to deal with the situation.The battered rupee has lost 165 paise in the last six trading sessions. Jaitley further said the dollar has strengthened against almost every other currency and added that the rupee has consistently either strengthened or remained in a range.
 
Jan Dhan Yojana: Govt doubles up overdraft facility from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000

The government has decided to make the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) an open-ended scheme and added more incentives to encourage people to open bank accounts. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said as the scheme has been a "runaway success", the government has decided to make it an open-ended scheme, meaning that it will continue indefinitely.The government has also decided to double the overdraft facility from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000, the minister said.
 
Bharti Infratel to take annual hit of Rs 780 cr from Vodafone Idea exit

Telecom infrastructure firm Bharti Infratel said Wednesday its consolidated revenue, including that from Indus Towers, is expected to take around Rs 780 crore hit on annual basis, due to exit of Vodafone and Idea Cellular from co-located mobile towers. Following completion of Vodafone-Idea merger, the companies have served exit notices to Bharti Infratel and its subsidiary Indus Towers from 27,447 co-located mobile towers on consolidated basis.

Amazon's share price has climbed during the year, swelling the personal wealth of the company's 54-year-old founder with it. Forbes estimated his net worth at about $166 billion.
 
Delhi might get a new fuel variant cleaner than CNG

 
The national capital may soon get a cleaner version of the compressed natural gas or  (CNG) later this month. CNG was introduced a decade ago to reduce pollution caused due to petrol and diesel. It seems Delhiites will now be introduced to H-CNG or hydrogen-CNG, as reported by the Times of India. A mix of 18 per cent hydrogen gas can reduce carbon monoxide (CO) and other harmful emissions. A report was recently submitted by the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) (EPCA) to the Supreme Court after which the decision was taken. The apex court suggested that at as many as 50 buses have to be tested first with H-CNG and it will only be rolled out if the tests are successful.
