Lok Sabha election 2019: PM Modi hits out at Congress; says those sitting in Delhi's AC rooms don't know ground reality
Lok Sabha election: As per the Election Commission, all arrangements have been done to ensure free and fair elections across 13 states; Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and UP are crucial states to watch out for.
Lok Sabha election: The second phase of the Lok Sabha election 2019 will be held across 96 constituencies in 13 states on Thursday. As per the Election Commission, all arrangements have been done to ensure free and fair elections. Crucial states that'll go to polls on Thursday are Tamil Nadu (38 Lok Sabha seats), Karnataka (14), Maharashtra (10) and Uttar Pradesh (8). Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his public rally in Madha, Maharashtra, today hit out at the Congress, saying those sitting in AC rooms of Delhi and keeping a tab on things don't know the ground reality. Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who is visiting the Wayanad constituency in Kerala today, told people: "I'm not here to tell you my 'Mann ki baat', I'm here to understand what is inside your heart, your soul."

2.13pm: Union Minister Piyush Goyal says: "Rahul Gandhi is afraid of defeat in Amethi&has to run all the way to Wayanad...he has lost the confidence of people of India. 1.15pm: "Here is another confirmation that lakhs of jobs were lost after demonetisation. Azim Premji University has reported that 50 lakh jobs were lost in two years after demonetisation. PM claims there is no unemployment in India. This is the problem if the PM will fly around the world but will not drive on the roads of India or walk on the streets of small towns and villages," says former finance minister P Chidambaram.

12.15pm: Polling in Tripura (East) LS seat deferred to April 23: The Election Commission Tuesday announced postponement of polling in the Tripura (East) Lok Sabha seat to the third phase on April 23 from April 18, saying the prevailing law and order situation there is not conducive for holding free and fair polls. Citing reports of state chief electoral officer and special police observer, the poll panel said, "The law and order situation prevailing ... is not conducive to the holding of free and fair poll." 12.05pm: Union Minister Uma Bharti has courted controversy by saying the country will see Priyanka Gandhi Vadra the way it views a "thief's wife", while claiming that the Congress general secretary will have no impact on the outcome of Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh. When asked to comment on the impact the Congress leader could have on the poll outcome, the firebrand BJP leader told reporters in Chhattisgarh's Durg, "Nothing. Why will she have an impact... Whose husband is facing theft charges. She will be seen the way India sees a thief's wife." (PTI)

11.30am: The Income Tax Department says it has seized Rs 1.48 crore cash allegedly stashed to bribe voters in Tamil Nadu's Theni district, where an assembly bypoll is scheduled on Thursday. Unaccounted cash worth Rs 1.48 crore was seized. It was neatly packed in 94 packets and envelops on which the ward number, number of voters and the amount of Rs 300 per voter was written, I-T Director General (investigations) B Murali Kumar said. Vellore candidate AC Shanmugam has now decided to move the Madras High Court against EC's decision.
