All of us who knew Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee are saddened to hear of his passing away. He was a great leader with a great sense of compassion and humour. He will be remembered fondly by a vast number of us.

Anand Mahindra, Executive Chairman, Mahindra Group

RIP Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The leadership lesson that I learned from my interactions with him was that no matter how significant your achievements while in office, you ultimately earn the affection of people through your humanity and humility... I tweeted this prized photo on Shri Vajpayee's last birthday. It is with enormous grief that I remember him today and mourn his passing...
Anil Agarwal, Founder and Chairman, Vedanta Resources Plc

Today, India has lost a true son of the soil, who rose from a very humble background to lead the country at a crucial juncture. An excellent orator, a mass leader, a fire power and a sensitive human being, Respected Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji was one of India's tallest leaders and was the first to address United Nations in Hindi. I had the fortune of meeting him on several occasions and every time I came back impressed with his ideals, his vision and his determination to work tirelessly for the development of India. While Atal ji may not be physically present among us now, his beliefs and his reform oriented ideas will continue to enlighten and guide us.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, Founder & Chairman of Bharti Enterprises

A great economic reformer, as a Prime Minister he was always guided by a strong conviction that liberalisation would help us realise our economic potential and ultimately open the doors to becoming a globally competitive, strong and resilient economy

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson and MD, Biocon Ltd

He (Vajpayee) put the nation on fast track with initiatives like Golden Quadrilateral project, the New Telecom Policy, the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and the Fiscal Responsibility Act that laid down the path for future governments to follow.

N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons

The nation has lost a statesman of independent India. An iconic leader on the world stage, Vajpayee led India with great wisdom, foresight and love for the country.
Manoj Kohli, Executive Chairman, Softbank Energy

Personally I heard him since I was 10 and loved his humour and poetry. His courage of conviction to decide on tough issues such as the new telecom policy in 1999 was his greatest strength. India needs more of such leaders for our bright future.

Harsh Goenka, Chairman of RPG Enterprises

India has lost its Ratna today. A stalwart who rose above party politics, a gentle statesman, a poet, an inspirational human being, a visionary , a legendary orator. He was loved by all whose lives he touched - a trait that distinguished him. Rest in Peace Atal Bihari Vajpayee
